Word Counts and Courtesans

NaNoWriMo. I'm behind. Shocking. However I've just hit the day two goal and I'm insistent on catching up by the end of the weekend. Which means hitting 10K before bed tonight.  Which means I should probably not be blogging. Finishing NaNo has been basically impossible since I had my kids. Which sucks, because to me that means I haven't been prioritizing my free time correctly. Plenty of winning wrimos have kids, so it's not quite the excuse that I pretend it is.  my story inspiration this year, from darkbeautymag.com Netflix is my downfall, I swear to god. It doesn't help that The Crown just came out. Ugh. I've also committed myself to far too many library books, plus my book club pick which I haven't even started yet.  Yeesh. My novel this year is a fantasy novel that's definitely inspired by the Kushiel's Dart series by Jacqualine Carey. A royal courtesan finds herself suddenly a pawn in the political machinations of an evil ...

Snacks for Days

I'm swear I'm only in this writing thing for the snacks sometimes. Cheez-its and Diet Coke? Yes, I do need those things in order to write productively. Does my waistline need them? Not as much. It's a fractured relationship that Cheez-its and I share. I sneak Pinterest, that helps. I mean of course, inspiration hits when I'm not allowed to write it all down. Of course. I do have some notes, but now that I'm faced with freetime I've got all these Cheez-its I have to eat first. It's really a cycle. But yes, lots of ideas for new shorts. Longish shorts, longer than the smutties first started out, more like 5-10k as opposed to 2k or so. Something I...

Hump Day Quickie - Driving Simon

Image
Happy hump day, smut fans. Here's a little quickie to indulge your dirty side. #NSFW Driving Simon Vampire, by Evard Munch, 1893 Simon reflected, briefly, that in fact it was not terribly often that he mated with his own kind. Humans were so much softer and warmer and more pliable than vampires, you see. And, of course, humans had hot living blood within their veins. But his fascination with Ysbette had been morphing for some time into an attraction, and now that he had seen her feed it was nothing short of lust. She dropped the body, a man twice her size, and ran a pink tongue over glistening red lips. She hadn't acknowledged Simon's presence, but that was unnecessary; he was hardly hiding himself. As she wiped the last remaining drops of blood from her lips Ysbette arched her back against the brick wall of the building, crimson heels spread wide, and reached up to loose the straps of her top from around her neck. They slithered down and over her chest. Her ...
