NaNo Check-in on Day 11

So here I am sort of completely restarting my NaNo project on Day 10. Though I am NOT deleting the almost-5K I wrote already. Per the great Chris Baty, I'm just changing the font to white so it doesn't show up in my word doc and then pressing on. I still wrote those words, dammit, even if I don't end up using them.

I'm still writing the same basic story, but I spent a lot of the last 10 days trying to force myself to work with this particular outlining style -- which I do think is a good style -- that I've never used before, and trying to get the hang of it while also attempting the speedy word dumps necessary for NaNo was driving me crazy.

Also, I'm trying to write essentially a paranormal romance, here. I know how those are paced. Using an outline that asks me for scenes better suited to straight fantasy novels was throwing me off and getting me frustrated. Once November is over I'll have to sketch out an outline that would be better to use for PNR. Proving once again that everyone's system is a good system as long as its the system that's good for them.

So here I am at just over 5K on my NaNoWriMo WIP on day 11, and not feeling discouraged by it. Once I freed myself from the restrictions of that old outlining process last night, the words started fl-owing, baby. Here's hoping that bodes well for the entire story.

And also, Happy Veterans' Day to those who have served, and thank you for making this country a safer place!
